چکیده

In this paper, a novel and fast algorithm for segmental and subsegmental lung vessel segmentation is introduced using Computed Tomography Angiography images. This process is quite important especially at the detection of pulmonary embolism, lung nodule, and interstitial lung disease. The applied method has been realized at five steps. At the first step, lung segmentation is achieved. At the second one, images are threshold and differences between the images are detected. At the third one, left and right lungs are gathered with the differences which are attained in the second step and Exact Lung Image (ELI) is achieved. At the fourth one, image, which is threshold for vessel, is gathered with the ELI. Lastly, identifying and segmentation of segmental and subsegmental lung vessel have been carried out thanks to image which is obtained in the fourth step. The performance of the applied method is found quite well for radiologists and it gives enough results to the surgeries medically. Keywords—Computed tomography angiography (CTA), Computer aided detection (CAD), Lung segmentation, Lung vessel segmentation

Extracting Vessel Centerlines From Retinal Images Using Topographical Properties and Directional Filters

In this paper we consider the problem of blood vessel segmentation in retinal images. After enhancing the retinal image we use green channel of images for segmentation as it provides better discrimination between vessels and background. We consider the negative of retinal green channel image as a topographical surface and extract ridge points on this surface. The points with this property are l...

Detection of lung cancer using CT images based on novel PSO clustering

Lung cancer is one of the most dangerous diseases that cause a large number of deaths. Early detection and analysis can be very helpful for successful treatment. Image segmentation plays a key role in the early detection and diagnosis of lung cancer. K-means algorithm and classic PSO clustering are the most common methods for segmentation that have poor outputs. In t...

Evaluation of methods of co-segmentation on PET/CT images of lung tumor: simulation study

Introduction: Lung cancer is one of the most common causes of cancer-related deaths worldwide. Nowadays PET/CT plays an essential role in radiotherapy planning specially for lung tumors as it provides anatomical and functional information simultaneously that is effective in accurate tumor delineation. The optimal segmentation method has not been introduced yet, however several ...

Three-dimensional synthetic blood vessel generation using stochastic L-systems

Segmentation of blood vessels from magnetic resonance angiography (MRA) or computed tomography angiography (CTA) images is a complex process that usually takes a lot of computational resources. Also, most vascular segmentation and detection algorithms do not work properly due to the wide architectural variability of the blood vessels. Thus, the construction of convincing synthetic vascular tree...
